Where the information comes from
Only official sources: advisories and notices to shipping published by canal authorities (for example the Panama Canal Authority's Advisories to Shipping). We collect each notice automatically as it's published and keep the original. Every status line and every alert links to the document it comes from.
How a page is made
- Our system checks the authorities' notice pages several times a day and stores each new document.
- A draft summary is written with the help of AI, using only the official document.
- A separate review step checks every number, date and claim against the source before anything is published.
- Each page shows when it was issued, written and last updated, and links to the original.
What it isn't
Canal Desk is information, not navigational, legal or operational advice. Authorities can change limits at short notice. Confirm current requirements with the authority or your appointed agent before fixing a voyage.
Who runs it
CanalAgent is an independent directory of canal transit agents run by Shoghi Enayati. About CanalAgent. Spotted an error? Tell us and we'll correct it.
